Anticipation. Will the day let me down?
Is that part of my semiretired lifestyle story?
There wasn’t a predawn. Maybe sunrise will be better as there is a nice layer of clouds.
Anticipation. Will sunrise let me down today? There have been so many great ones… Wait! As I write this, the northern sky is pinking up.
My anticipation grows. Like a child waiting for Santa Claus, I often feel this way in life. Will the sunrise be spectacular? Will the waves crash near me causing me to scramble back from their onslaught?
North is still winning over east.
Anticipation & A Semiretired Lifestyle
I’m still waiting for the sun to clear the thickening clouds. There is potential as I write this.
It’s difficult to divide my attention between the surf, the clouds, and my writing. I hate to think of leaving, but I have a client project that needs my undivided attention which means I should start soon after the sun greets the day.
I long for carefree days where I can stay at the beach until I am done.
That’s part of the semiretirement quandary. If the work you do is autonomous within your deadlines, you can fully choose your working hours.
However, if your work is 1:1 customer or client based, there will be times when you must work by their clock.
I would like to transition my semiretirement work to a more autonomous style with few very select, client projects. The rest of my time can be devoted to my writing and publishing blogs, future books and online self-learning programs. If that is, I still choose to do each of these!
That’s the clincher in a semiretired lifestyle. You get to choose. It may take a while to get there but I believe the anticipation is worth it.
